Early Spring and Summer sign-ups are incredibly helpful in our decision-making on the farm.
Knowing how much to plant, how many hands to hire, and which pickup locations to expand helps us stay efficient and intentional. This year, that picture is coming together earlier than usual!
Spring shares are nearly spoken for, and Summer is about halfway full — which makes the season ahead feel steady and well-supported.

Around the Farm
Right now, most of our energy is going into making one space do three jobs.
The greenhouse and headhouse are about to shift from winter storage and wash space into full greenhouse prep mode. That means clearing benches, reorganizing supplies, and figuring out how trays, soil, packing tables, and wash equipment can coexist without tripping over each other.
The greenhouse from 2025. Hopefully a preview of what's to come!
Our solution: wheels — lots of wheels on concrete. Everything on casters. Pallet jacks are getting their spring workout. If it doesn’t roll, it’s probably in the way.
Carl is still doing their part — holding storage crops steady while we slowly convert the surrounding space back into something that looks like spring. Early March on a farm isn’t dramatic yet. It’s mostly rearranging and making room.
By the end of this week, though, we’re hoping to have at least a few trays seeded. Once that happens, it starts to feel real again.
We also purchased a larger delivery van this month. Nothing flashy — just something that fits more boxes and reduces the number of trips between the farm and pickup sites. If we’re at Allen this summer (which we’re preparing for), it will make that route far more manageable.
It’s not the most visible part of farming, but these small logistical shifts are what keep the busy months running smoothly.

Pic of the Week
Not our photo, but one Heather (far left) shared of the crew at Green Wagon Farm in Ada. Chad (far right) and Heather are raising four small farmers of their own while managing a crew of 10–20 people throughout the year.
They run their own CSA and supply restaurants around the Grand Rapids area nearly year-round.
We’re especially grateful to the Green Wagon crew for helping us out with fresh greens this spring while we reshuffle some of our own infrastructure. It’s a gift to have other farms we trust.
