The Schedule: Please note that this is the last market before we go on a longer-than-normal break. We'll see you again between January 14 and 17, and we don't plan to attend any farmers' markets in that time period either.
It looks like winter is shaping up to be colder than usual, so this seems to be well-timed.
Eggs are on sale: We want to go into this Holiday break with zero eggs! So, eggs are $6/dozen on the Farmigo store for this week only. All are still no more than 10 days old, with most being laid this upcoming week.
Green Wagon is bringing greens this week! Our infrastructure projects are making winter growing difficult, but Green Wagon is coming through. If you customized earlier today, these were not in the store yet. Please check back in and customize if you want microgreens, lettuce, or winter greens.
Around the Farm
This past week pulled us out of the quiet winter rhythm and straight into learning mode. We spent several days at the Great Lakes Fruit, Vegetable & Farm Market Expo (GLEXPO) in Grand Rapids—an annual gathering that brings together growers, researchers, and industry folks from across Michigan and the Midwest. It’s a lot of listening, a lot of note-taking, and a lot of conversations that start with, “So how are you handling that?” We came home tired, inspired, and carrying more ideas than we can possibly tackle all at once—which is precisely the point.
A stock photo from GLEXPO, since I always forget to take pictures! This is a pic from the trade show, where we go to talk to seed, chemical, and soil/amendment companies to hear the latest and greatest products coming out.
One piece of news we’re especially proud to share: I/Rebecca was elected to the Michigan Vegetable Council during the conference. It’s an honor to serve, and particularly meaningful to be one of the smallest-scale vegetable farms represented at that table, which mainly includes folks who farm 500+ acres, or board members of large food or chemical companies. Having small, family-farm perspectives included in statewide conversations matters, and I’m grateful for the chance to contribute.
Back on the farm, winter projects are officially ramping up. We’re preparing to tear down our original pack shed, which means the next month will be a careful shuffle of moving my dad’s long-stored barn contents and treasures, reorganizing equipment, and figuring out where everything should live. It’s the kind of behind-the-scenes work that doesn’t look very exciting day to day, but gets us ready for impending construction.
Over the next few weeks, our goal is to do some big girl planning. Having the general size/scope of CSA 2026 mainly set by the time we’re talking again is a main goal—shares, timing, systems, and infrastructure all planned out. Then, we need to tackle growing plans, seed orders, supply orders, setting employee start dates and goals, interviewing and hiring for 2026, and signing any contracts.
For now, we’re sorting, planning, and stacking ideas right alongside crates and boxes.

Pic of the Week
A pic from Green Wagon in Ada! Part of going to GLEXPO was being able to swing by Chad and Heather's place in Ada (about 20 minutes outside of Grand Rapids). Pictured is one of the bays in their gutter-connected greenhouse. On the right is a future lettuce mix for you! Relying heavily on another farm as we complete infrastructure projects was not on my bingo card, but we're super lucky to have them.
