Many folks with Ingham County school kids are on Spring Break this week, so I hope this CSA schedule doesn’t catch you off guard!
If you can't make it this week, you can pick up double next time by placing a delivery hold, or have a friend or neighbor pick up your share, or donate it to Food Rescuers of Ingham County by selecting "Donate My Share" in the store.
Spring and Summer CSA Update
We have reached our Spring CSA membership goal and plan to close sign-ups on April 1.

Every day is starting to feel more and more like spring! Things don’t look like much yet, but we know underfoot things are starting to wake up.
Buckets of soil samples are ready to be mixed, labeled, and sent to a lab.
The greenhouse is still mostly onions at this point, so it's not the most exciting view just yet. But in the hoophouse (our unheated space), the ranunculus are up, and the garlic outside has continued to shoot up. The 2000+ tulips we planted last fall are finally sprouting green leaves and will be showing off for Mother’s Day.
Behind the scenes, we spent a couple of long days pulling soil samples. (A huge thanks to Cari and Sophia!) It’s not glamorous work, but it’s super important to the health of the farm. Sampling over 27 acres and creating representative soil samples of over 37 fields, and 3 incredibly distinct soil textures was a daunting task, but we made it!
At the same time, we’ve started seeding for Spring CSA. Lettuce, spinach, arugula, mustard greens, kale, collards, and chard are all underway. Some of those will be ready right around that May 15 start, while hopefully many others will follow shortly after.
It’s still early, and most of our efforts will pay off later this summer with a plentiful harvest. But this is the work that sets the whole season in motion.
Getting to April feels like a milestone in itself! Especially as you head into a weekend when many will gather with family and share meals. (Our extended family always has a big potluck over Easter.) Enjoy your week!
